Sjögren's syndrome is a systemic autoimmune disease with glandular and extra-glandular immune and epithelial dysregulation. The goal of this session is to explore aberrant molecular and cellular disease pathogenesis at the cytokine and cellular level with emphasis on T cell and epithelial biology.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the putative antigens involved in the T cell pathogenic response of Sjögren's disease
  • Describe the role of cytokine signaling pathways in Sjögren's disease
  • Discuss the role of cellular senescence of epithelial cells in the hyposalivatory response
