My primary goal in research and clinical care is early diagnosis and health care delivery to the systemic sclerosis (SSc) patient population. The Vanderbilt SSc Program is recognized nationally by the Scleroderma Foundation and internationally by the Scleroderma Clinical Trials Consortium (SCTC). While SSc pharmaceutical trials provide much needed therapies to my patients through open label extensions, I am most interested in improving early diagnosis through access. Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) telehealth outreach identifies patients that can benefit from dedicated SSc-vasculopathy care and is funded through a VA Merit Award. My research focus is the natural history of SSc pathogenesis through meticulous patient phenotyping and collaboration in order to improve outcomes.
