This session will focus on two common, but sometimes challenging pediatric-onset rheumatic conditions: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE). It will highlight key differences between the pediatric-onset diseases and their adult counterparts, addressing important distinctions related to diagnosis, clinical manifestations, disease management, and prognosis. The final portion will offer pearls on working with recently-transitioned young adult patients, including strategies that help patients diagnosed in childhood integrate into an adult rheumatology practice.
